Coats for Kids and H.U.G.S.S. (Helping Us Give School Supplies)
LSSA has partnered with Catholic Social Services, The Salvation Army and the Anchorage School District to provide coats for kids. The program has grown to include school supplies. Since its inception in 2001, this collaborative ministry has helped over 40,000 kids from low-income families prepare for a successful school year. Many individuals and corporations contribute to this project and we are thankful for the many volunteers.
Thanksgiving Blessing
LSSA partners with the Food Bank of Alaska to provide food baskets at Thanksgiving. At our site we provided food for Thanksgiving dinner for almost 1,000 families.
Many other organizations helped staff and distribute donated food at seven other sites around the community. We couldn’t do this without all the donations of food and the many hours of several hundred volunteers.
Neighborhood Gift
LSSA partners with the Food Bank of Alaska, the Salvation Army, and the Marine Corp to provide toys and stocking stuffers for each child under 12 and a holiday dinner for families in need. The donation of toys and food allowed us to assist close to 1,000 families at our site. Like many of our projects, this could not be accomplished without the generous support of many volunteers.
