VOLUNTEER

JOIN A COMMITTEE

SPREAD THE WORD

There are several areas in which you can volunteer:

FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Our food pantry is always in need of volunteers to help sort and distribute food. The pantry is open to the public Tues-Friday and the Mobile Food Pantry takes place every Tuesday night. For more information about volunteering please contact our office at 907-272-0643 or click the link below this section.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Throughout the year LSSA is involved in special community-wide events such as Thanksgiving Blessing, HUGSS and Coats for Kids, Neighborhood Gift and various food drives. Because of their size, these events require lots of volunteers! To find out more about upcoming events and how to get involved with them visit our "Events" page.

OTHER: Do you have special skills? If you have a talent/skill you would like to utilize through volunteering like grant writing, office experience, maintenance, landscaping, etc., please contact our offices.

GET INVOLVED

Throughout the year LSSA hosts various events and works on many projects. These projects require teams of dedicated volunteers to make sure they are a success. Our biggest need is always on our fundraising committee, which is responsible for planning our annual Harvest of Hope Auction and other exciting events. Please contact our offices if you are interested!

Issues of poverty, homelessness and hunger are an ever increasing issue throughout the world. Alaska is no exception. For example, it is estimated that tens of thousands of Alaskans struggle with food insecurity each year in Anchorage alone. If you are interested in spreading the word about LSSA here are some ideas...

Have LSSA do a presentation at your business or place of work.

Are you a church congregation? We would love to partner with you through presentations/sermons, food drives and many other ways.

Organize a food drive to spread awareness about the issues of hunger.
