DIRECT ASSISTANCE​

​Through our Direct Assistance Program, clients receive vouchers for Alaska State IDs, Alaska Birth Certificates and prescription medications. These vouchers help lesson financial strain and aid with job searches, continued employment and overall health.

*Birth Certificates and I.D vouchers can only be issued once a year. 

FOOD PANTRY

Our emergency food assistance is by far our largest program, providing food assistance in the LSSA Food Pantry and at our Mobile Food Pantry sites. So far in 2023 LSSA distributed 550,000+ pounds of food to over 56,000 individuals. Clients receive government commodities and also get to choose from donated food and food purchased by LSSA. We  offer additional government commodity boxes for seniors and children. The pantries are always in need of volunteers and food donations.

Hours of Operation:

​LSSA Food Pantry:

       Mon: closed

       Tue/Thur/Fri: 1-4pm

       Wed: 4-7p

       Clients can receive food once a  

       month.

Mobile Food Pantry:

Every Tuesday, registration begins at 4:30pm, food is served starting at 5pm at the Lutheran Church of Hope parking lot. Clients can receive food weekly.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

Our Transitional Living Program for men provides preparation for sustainable employment and housing. Our program supports residents as they work to develop and maintain a healthy and stable lifestyle.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Every year LSSA joins with other organizations in the community to plan events throughout Anchorage. Through Thanksgiving Blessing, Neighborhood Gift and HUGSS and Coats for Kids. Visit our "events" page to find details about upcoming community projects and how you can help.

MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION

​LSSA provides rides to and from medical appointements via taxi vouchers. Clients are eligible for one ride a month and up to six rides per year.

THE LISTENING POST

​The Listening Post opens it's doors for individuals to come and share their story, relieve their burdens through talk and find a moment of peace. Now located in various locations around Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. To learn more visit their website: http://listeningpostanchorage.com

PROGRAMS

ASSOCIATION FOR STRANDED RURAL ALASKANS (ASRA)

​For over 30 years ASRA has provided emergency shelter and transportation to individuals who are stranded in medical facilities outside of their hometown due to financial hardship. ASRA aims to bring hope to recipients during their hardship, prevent homelessness and see that clients return safely to their home communities.​
